The Last News

I’ve been waiting for a long time for C7 release. This did not happen. The last DevCon did not bring me no hope.
That’s why I froze this site.
I think when C7 become “Gold” I will return back… with news.

See you later!

The Quotable Bill Gates

Some of the most oft-repeated comments attributed to Bill Gates through the years were not uttered by Bill Gates. Take for instance “640K ought to be enough for anybody,” which he supposedly said in 1981 to note that the 640K bytes of memory in IBM’s PC was a significant breakthrough. Or his alleged comment that if General Motors “had kept up with technology like the computer industry has, we would all be driving [US]$25 cars that got 1,000 miles per gallon.”

Are Delphi programmersa dying breed?

…It kind of feels to me like the days when I still was a Cobol programmer. That breed almost died, and of course as a contractor that made sure you got a good price for your work :-).

Real Snail Mail

snail.jpgOur snails are equipped with a miniaturised electronic circuit and antenna that enables them to be assigned messages from hardware located within their enclosure. The moment you click ‘send’ your message will travel at the speed of light to our snail server where it will await collection by a snail agent.

Once associated with the tiny electronic chip on the snails shell your message will be carried around until the snail chances by the drop off point. Hardware located at this point collects the message from the snail and forwards it to its final destination.

“Hulu is kicking Youtube’s ass” – Mark Cuban

Outspoken YouTube critic and billionaire Mark Cuban has announced in a recent blog post that “Hulu is kicking Youtube’s Ass” and he predicts Hulu’s total revenues will surpass YouTube’s by next year. The secret to Hulu’s success, according to Cuban, is its ability to monetize 100% of its content and that it can piggyback on YouTube by posting small clips of full shows for free.

AMD Makes An Evolutionary Leap In Linux Support

Less than a year ago we shared with you the revolutionary steps AMD was taking to deliver significant improvements to their once infamous proprietary Linux display driver and at the same time the work they were doing to foster the growth of an open-source driver for their latest graphics card families. These steps have certainly paid off for both AMD and the Linux community at large. AMD’s proprietary driver is now on par with NVIDIA’s Linux driver and there are two open-source ATI drivers picking up new features and improvements on an almost daily basis. AMD also continues to publish new programming guides and register information on a routine basis for their latest and greatest hardware. This has been truly phenomenal to see, but AMD has now evolved their Linux support by taking it a large step further. AMD is in the process of pushing new high-end features into their Linux driver — such as Multi-GPU CrossFire support — and with the ATI Radeon HD 4850 they have even begun showing off Tux, the Linux mascot, on their product packaging and providing Linux drivers on their product CDs!

Clarion Magazine Articles

Boost Compile Times By Putting The ABC Classes In Their Own DLL
Have you ever noticed now much time the IDE spends compiling the same ABC classes over and over again? The good news is you don’t have to waste that time if you don’t want to. Just isolate the ABC classes into their own library. But there’s a trick, as Benjamin Dell explains.

Creating Directories With #SERVICE
The Clarion template language provides a mechanism for calling DOS utlities such as MKDIR. But if your templates need to create directories the undocumented #SERVICE statement is more reliable.

Wine 1.0

The Wine team is proud to announce that Wine 1.0 is now available. This is the first stable release of Wine after 15 years of development and beta testing. Many thanks to everybody who helped us along that long road!

Wine is an Open Source implementation of the Windows API on top of X, OpenGL, and Unix.

Think of Wine as a compatibility layer for running Windows programs. Wine does not require Microsoft Windows, as it is a completely free alternative implementation of the Windows API consisting of 100% non-Microsoft code, however Wine can optionally use native Windows DLLs if they are available. Wine provides both a development toolkit for porting Windows source code to Unix as well as a program loader, allowing many unmodified Windows programs to run on x86-based Unixes, including Linux, FreeBSD, Mac OS X, and Solaris.
