When Windows XP encounters a severe error that has the potential to crash the operating system, it immediately halts the offending program and displays an error message that says the application has encountered a problem and needs to close. Then, the operating system prompts you to send an error report to Microsoft. You can avoid having to click the Don’t Send button by disabling Error Reporting.

Koma-Mail is an email client which is comfortable and has very handy functions. It does not need an installation, so that you can run Koma-Mail from your flash drive but, of course, also on your desktop.
For safety reasons Koma-Mail blocks scripts and ActiveX in your mails. You can also encrypt your user account. To be protected against webbugs you can use Koma-Mail in the offline mode.
Koma-Mail offers two different spam filters: one is word based and the other one is a Bayesian. To prevent false negative detections Koma-Mail uses a white list.
With Koma-Mail you can send and receive mails, encrypted via SSL, through POP3, IMAP (including synchronization), SMTP and WebDav. To stay informed you can use the integrated RSS viewer.

As already reported by Chris Bensen in his blog, Micheal Swindell has reported some official figures of the size of the Delphi community. Over in the non.technical newsgroup (open his message dated 17 Aug, 20:46), CodeGear Product Manager shared numbers based on official surveys (and not on the internal company sales and registration data, which is a well-kept secret):
Delphi has a developer population of approx 1.75 million users worldwide in 2006. Delphi has 15% IDE marketshare overall (7.7% ranked out of 100%) and is the #2 Windows IDE and the #4 IDE overall.
There isn’t much to add… If I could only sell a new book to one in a hundred, that will be 17 thousand copies!

DOSBox is an x86 emulator which creates a DOS-like environment intended for running MS-DOS-based IBM PC compatible programs, especially computer games, which may not run properly on newer PCs and may not run at all on non-IBM PC compatibles (e.g. PowerPC Macintosh). It also allows such games to be run on other operating systems that do not normally support DOS programs or run them too fast with normal compatibility layers. DOSBox is open source and available for many operating systems, such as Linux, OpenBSD, FreeBSD, Windows 9x, Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000, Windows XP (32-bit and 64-bit), Windows 2003, Windows Vista, Mac OS X, OS/2, Palm OS, RISC OS, and BeOS.

I’ve put together a very quick video (1.6Mb) which you can download from http://Clarion7.clarionweb.com.
It shows you how to export your program from C6 app gen using a project file and then how to compile it in C7 in just a few mouse clicks!
Its recorded with Camtasia and converted to Flash, with screen resolution set for 800 x 655 so it should be easily viewed in 1024 x 768 resolution. The link will download a zip file containing a folder with the presentation on. Just load the index.html file to watch the video.
Please note that some 3rd party suppliers add ons will compile and work with out any extra work or changes required, some addons will require a C7 version so its best to check with your supplier if you need a C7 version and whether its released yet.
I’ll put together some more short clips to help everyone get up to speed with C7 if required.
Cheers,
Richard Rose [Intelligent Silicon Ltd]

The new Dictionary Diagram component - Screen shots/movie
The New Dictionary Diagram tool provides all of the features you’d expect in a data model tool. You can think of it as another view of your Dictionary, as from this view you’ll be able to access any of the Dictionary Editors’ dialogs.
Clarion 7 Dictionary Editor / Screen shots and movie
The Dictionary editor is at the center of the Clarion development paradigm. The new editor preserves all of the existing functionality and removes the limitations imposed by the modality of the prior version, and it delivers the most frequently requested features.
Clarion 7 release to Core Subscribers
The heading says it all. On the Tuesday after the Labor Day weekend (Sept 4th), we’ll be sending out emails to all CSP owners with download instructions for Clarion 7.

For those blessed that have a CSP and FinalStep, I added a new feature for C7 only.
If nothing changes, C6+C7 generates the enhanced menus just for the main Frame. Although, the enhancement to the menus is done by code, so you can do it yourself with any other menu you have. OR, if you have FinalStep just download the current version 2.15 and enjoy the new menus everywhere, automatically. FinalStep will take the same global option you picked in the
C6 global UI extension, and apply to all the menus in your app, even if there is no Frame.

Everyone collects utilities, and most folks have a list of a few that they feel are indispensable. Here’s mine. Each has a distinct purpose, and I probably touch each at least a few times a week. For me, util means utilitarian and it means don’t clutter my tray. If it saves me time, and seamlessly integrates with my life, it’s the bomb. Many/most are free some aren’t. Those that aren’t free are very likely worth your 30-day trial, and perhaps your money.

The latest version of a well-reviewed third-party security policy enhancement system for Windows Vista claims to solve what its manufacturer characterizes as “not a secure solution” to a critical problem Windows historically had with administrator privileges on programs. But in the announcement of the upgrade earlier this week, a key Microsoft product manager is quoted as having acknowledged Vista’s own take on the solution was not quite enough, effectively reversing his company’s stand on User Account Control.
