Gmail cookie vulnerability exposes user’s privacy

Petko Petkov of ethical hacking group GNUCitizen has developed a proof-of-concept program to steal contacts and incoming e-mails from Google Gmail users.

“This can be used to forward all your incoming e-mail,” Pure Hacking security researcher Chris Gatford told ZDNet Australia. “It’s just a proof of concept at the moment but what they’re demonstrating is the potential to use this vulnerability for malicious purposes.”

Five free Web apps we can’t live without

The current explosion of AJAX-powered Web sites has helped spawn countless next-generation Web apps offering everything from simple to-do lists to complex project management, not to mention the ability to share all kinds of things — documents, calendar listings, photos, video and more.
But with so many sites out there and new ones cropping up almost daily, who’s got time to try them all? Playing with dozens of Web apps to find ones you like can sort of defeat the purpose of many of these services: to boost your productivity.

Fortunately for you, we’ve already done a lot of this work…

Volume Discounts @ Strategy

Hi Guys.

A couple days ago I received my first email from a customer who wanted to purchase multiple licenses for one of my products. This is the first customer in almost 2 years since I left CapeSoft who has asked about this. That means that either (a) less than 0.2% of my clients have more than 1 developer in their company, or (b) we’re not all being entirely honest here .

To help make honesty more affordable, I’ve implemented volume discounts on all of my products. Please see here for more info.

Best Regards,
Gary James

The SRI robotic surgical system is designed to be stored in a very compact space for space travel. Astronauts will reassemble the device for use in the event of illness requiring surgical intervention.

Gloomy Forecast for IT Work Force

The topic was education and the talk was not optimistic at the Institute for a Competitive Workforce’s Sept. 25 workshop. A part of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, ICW drew several hundred participants to its event, held with the goal of promoting effective and sustainable business and education/work force partnerships.

“Our continued leadership is not inevitable and may not be sustainable,” Fred Tipson, Microsoft’s senior policy counsel, said in an afternoon panel discussion focused on upgrading the current and future work force’s digital literacy and math and science skills. “The question is whether our work force or some other country’s will be beneficiaries of new technology.”
